What is an app?
An app is a piece of software Whisk runs for your business, with its own code, address and access settings. Each live app counts once on your plan, whatever its size. Below are three apps run by one business.
Your appsThese building blocks are provided by Whisk
App 1
Company website
example.com
Product pages, how-to videos and a quote request form.
App 2
Customer portal
portal.example.com
Orders and invoices for signed-in trade customers.
App 3
Price update
Runs daily at 6:00
Updates website prices and stock from the ERP each morning.
Where the data is stored
Each app has its own database for the data only it uses. Data several apps need, such as customers, products and prices, is kept once in a shared database, which prevents duplication and gives one source of truth.
- Company website: own databasePage content and media library.
- Customer portal: own databaseSaved carts and email preferences.
- Price update: own databaseRun history and ERP sync state.
- Shared databaseCustomers, products, prices, stock, quote requests and orders. Kept once, read by every app that needs them.
