Your own subdomain

Apps on a paid plan get addresses under your business's own name.

Built on Caddy and Let's Encrypt

Plans: Starter and up

What you get

  • Addresses under your business's name, like crm.yourcompany.whisk.page
  • Previews under the same name
  • A wildcard HTTPS certificate for your business
  • Addresses moved for you when the plan changes
  • Old addresses redirected to the new ones
  • Your business address leads to your apps on the dashboard

How it works

On a paid plan, each app's address is the app's name under the business's own name, such as fielddata.harrisonsurveys.whisk.page. The free app keeps the shorter form, fielddata--harrisonsurveys.whisk.page. Previews follow the same pattern, with the branch name added to the app's name.

When a business moves between the free plan and a paid plan, Whisk moves every app to its new address. The old address stays: browsers are redirected to the new one, and other requests such as webhooks keep working there. The business's own address, harrisonsurveys.whisk.page, takes people to the business on the Whisk dashboard after sign-in.

Caddy, the open-source web server in front of every app, serves every app under the business's name with one wildcard HTTPS certificate from Let's Encrypt. Each app's cookies are bound to its own address, so apps under the same name cannot read each other's cookies.

Example

A land surveying firm moves from the free app to a paid plan when it adds a second app. Its field data app moves from fielddata--harrisonsurveys.whisk.page to fielddata.harrisonsurveys.whisk.page. Surveyors' bookmarks to the old address still open the app.

For your coding agent

whisk apps list # each app with its current address
whisk apps info <app>

Use the address Whisk returns rather than building one, and read it from WHISK_PUBLIC_URL in the app's environment. For an address on your own domain, see custom domains.
